ELORA – Centre Wellington’s infrastructure services department has launched a new toilet rebate program.
Available to residents and small businesses, a rebate of $75 (including HST) is being offered for the replacement of an inefficient toilet with a more water-efficient model as approved by the township.
The following criteria must be met by the resident/business to become eligible:
– meet and agree to the terms and conditions of the township’s program;
– be connected to the municipal water and sanitary sewer system and receive a water bill;
– purchase and install a low-flow toilet as approved by the township and that is compliant with the building code;
– replace a toilet with a flush volume greater than 6 litres with a Watersense certified toilet;
– fill out the application form available at centrewellington.ca and submit it with a copy of the original sales receipt(s) for the new toilet(s) and a photo of either the serial number or the flow rate of the inefficient toilet(s) being replaced; and,
– be available for an on-site inspection of the newly installed efficient toilet(s).
Applications for the rebate will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and capped at 100 rebates. The application submission does not guarantee a rebate.
Currently, the rebate program is only open to residential, institutional and small commercial applicants.
Applicants who fall in the industrial, large commercial, and multi-unit residential categories are advised to contact the infrastructure services department for more information on future rebate programs (519-8469691 ext. 269).
Replacing an inefficient toilet with a high-efficiency one can reduce household water use by up to 14,000 litres per year, saving as much as $80 on a water bill.
