The Puslinch Township office will be closing at 3pm on Dec. 24 and re-opening on Jan. 3 following the Christmas holiday.
Council last week approved the plan, which was proposed by clerk Brenda Law.
“Normally we’re open,” Law said, but given that this year there are three statutory holidays that fall on a weekend – Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year’s day – the township office would be closed for three days during the week after Christmas anyhow.
Plus township staff usually only work a half day on New Year’s Eve, so the move to close the entire week after Christmas would only really affect a day and a half.
Councillors seemed to have little problem with the move and approved the closure of the office over the holidays.
