Township hires director of corporate services/treasurer

Centre Wellington officials have announced that Dan Wilson will become the township’s new treasurer and managing director of corporate services effective Sept. 1.

Current managing director of corporate services and treasurer Wes Snarr is retiring at the end of July after 23 years  with the municipality.  

In a press release Centre Wellington officials thanked Snarr for “many years of outstanding contribution” to the municipality.

Wilson is familiar with Centre Wellington as he grew up in the community and previously worked for the township as a budget analyst and deputy treasurer in the early 2000s.

Wilson has spent 18 years in the municipal field with a focus on finance, legislation, asset management and policy development.

He is a chartered professional accountant who has spent 11 years at Watson and Associates Economists Ltd., where he is a director.

Wilson started his professional career at BDO Dunwoody LLP in Guelph and also worked as treasurer at the Township of Woolwich.

“I am very excited to be taking on this leadership role at the township,” Wilson said.

“Centre Wellington is a special community which has strong personal connections for my family.”

 Goldie said, “We are extremely delighted that Dan will be part of our municipal team. He will provide strong leadership to our corporate services team, deliver an exceptional strategic voice at the township’s senior management team table, and provide professional expertise to the mayor and council.”
