Guelph-Eramosa Township will spend close to $80,000 on maintenance gravel this spring.
Acting manager of public works Rod McClure presented council with a report on two tenders received by the township for the supply of “granular A” gravel to maintain roads.
Cox Construction had the lowest of two tenders received, at $10.05 per tonne for delivered gravel and $7 per tonne for gravel that is picked up.
Based on those figures McClure estimated the total figure would be $78,851 (the township had $103,000 in this year’s budget for gravel road and shoulder maintenance).
Council unanimously approved the purchase.
Last year the township purchased gravel from Cox Construction at a price of $9.52 per tonne for delivery and $7.25 per tonne for pick up.
