Councillors here still want to Go Green.
Late last month, council discussed Ontario’s new Go Green fund for projects to reduce greenhouse gasses.
Since then, they have formulated a few ideas for the application.
On Jan. 9, Minto Treasurer Gord Duff explained the funding announcement also came with an equally tight deadline.
The application had to arrive at the provincial office by Jan. 10.
Minto’s proposal in the application includes the delivery of energy conservation kits to residents and to tie that in with an educational campaign.
Duff also spoke with county planner Mark Van Patter, who heads Wellington’s Green Legacy program, who suggested the funds might also be used to purchase more trees for planting in the township.
Duff said applications can only be for projects specifically intended to reduce greenhouse gasses.
“All we can do is put in the application and hope for the best.”
