Town building fee revenue exceeded costs by $37,549

Building permit fees collected here last year exceeded costs by $37,549.

Chief Building Official  Andrew Hartholt explained in a report to council last week that total costs for the department in 2009 were $164,730, while fees collected totalled $202,279.

He recommended council transfer the $37,549 to the town’s “building administration reserve fund,” and council unanimously approved the transfer. The reserve fund now has a balance of $55,542.

Provincial legislation dictates municipal permit fees must not exceed department costs, and the transfer allows the town to meet that obligation.
