Tour de Guelph community cycling fundraiser returns June 23

GUELPH – Back for its 11th year, the Tour de Guelph fundraiser is being held on June 23 at the University of Guelph.

The event supports Guelph General Hospital and numerous local charitable programs through the Rotary Clubs of Guelph South and Guelph Trillium.

Registration is open at TourdeGuelph.ca for all ages and abilities.

The event offers newly-designed routes ranging from five to 100 kilometres, with multi-surface, family friendly and quiet street options.

All styles of pedal bikes are permitted including pedal assist e-bikes.

“We’re proud to partner with the Rotary Clubs of Guelph South and Guelph Trillium to create a community cycling event that is aligned with our value of inclusivity, with a focus on making the event accessible, safe and welcoming for all,” stated Julie Byczynski, CEO of The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital.

Multiple fundraising and participation options exist including “Ride Anytime”, where participants can complete a bike ride between June 14 and 23.

“There is no other event like Tour de Guelph,” stated  Frank Oudesluys, partner at event sponsor Label Design and Tour de Guelph co-chair, Rotary Club of Guelph South.

“The proceeds are shared so widely throughout our community. Not only do proceeds support Guelph General Hospital, but dozens of other local charitable programs receive a portion of the proceeds to fund their important community services.”

Registration includes a barbecue lunch provided by Harvey’s Restaurants of Guelph, rest stops on routes 25km or longer and a Family Fun Zone.

Participants fundraising $300 and over will receive a custom Tour de Guelph jersey. All routes start and end at the University of Guelph where there is free parking.
