MAPLETON – The total cost of remuneration for township council members here was up by about $22,949 in 2022.
Mapleton director of finance John Morrison presented a statement of council remuneration and expenses, as required annually by provincial legislation, at the March 21 council meeting.
The total cost of council pay and expenses was $117,743 in 2022, compared to $94,794 in 2021.
Council compensation
Mayor Gregg Davidson received total remuneration of $34,698 in 2022, including a base salary of $26,082, per diems of $3,680 and expenses of $4,935 for items such as registration fees, hotel bills, parking mileage and meals.
Councillor Dennis Craven received a total of $16,370, including salary of $15,950, and per diems of $420. Craven did not receive any expense remuneration in 2022.
Councillor Paul Douglas received a total of $16,190, including salary of $15,950 and per diems of $240. Douglas did not receive any expense remuneration in 2022.
Councillor Michael Martin received a total of $21,144, including salary of $18,175, per diems of $780 and expenses of $459.
Councillor Marlene Ottens received a total of $21,350, including salary of $18,175, per diems of $800 and expenses of $2,374.
Councillor Amanda Reid received a total of $4,327, including a salary of $2,224, per diems of $440 and expenses of $1,662.
Election factor
Councillor Martin Tamlyn received a total of $3,662, including a salary of $2,224, per diems of $350 and expenses of $1,087.
Reid and Tamlyn only joined council following the Oct. 24 election last year, while the terms of Craven and Douglas, who did not seek re-election in 2022, ended after the vote.
