Centre Wellington council has released the pay and costs for its seven- member council for 2009, and the bill came to $169,880.
Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj led the way with $30,880 in total spending, including a salary of $25,038, meetings of $3,410, non-payroll expenses (conventions and mileage) of $2,432.
The total council salaries amounted to $126,361. Expenditures for each councillors, with the total, salary, meetings attended, and non-payroll expenses in order, are:
– Councillor Walt Visser (acting mayor in the absence of Ross-Zuj, and a councillor who sits on over a dozen committees for the township, county and provincially), $32,302, with pay of $18,361, $5,700 for extra meetings, $8,240 for non-payroll expenses;
– Fred Morris, $23,662, pay $16,692, meetings, $1,840, and non payroll expenses 5,129;
– Kirk McElwain, $16,692, $3,385 and $3,119;
– Robert Foster, $16,692, $1,955 and $3,318;
– Shawn Watters, $16,692, $1,110, and $1,112; and
– Ron Hallman, $16,692, $1,8770 and $49.
The township’s committee of adjustment also receive an honorarium. That cost $1,800 this year. The members and their total pay was:
– $420, Alex Cleghorn;
– $360, Cor Bultena and John Gamble;
– $240, Pierre Chauvin; and
– $420, Pat Drimmie.
Heritage Centre Wellington members were paid expenses. They totaled $1,898. The expenses were billed:
– $198, Kathy Baranski;
– $158, by Eleanor Smith and Don Fraser; and
– $1,382, Julia Tyndale-Biscoe, who attended two conferences.
