Three males now charged in Guelph stabbing

GUELPH – Three teenagers have now been charged in connection with a stabbing near a high school here last week.

Guelph Police officials say emergency crews responded to the call, at a business on Eramosa Road near Stevenson Street North, at about 12:30pm on Feb. 15.

Two males were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries and later released.

An 18-year-old Guelph male was charged with assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was to appear in court for a bail hearing on Feb. 23.

Police say a second male arrested in the early stages of the investigation was released without charges.

On Feb. 23 police announced two other teens had been arrested:

  • a 16-year-old Guelph male was charged with assault with a weapon and assault (to appear in bail court); and
  • a second 16-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault causing bodily harm and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose (to appear in Guelph court on April 5).

Nearby John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute was placed in lockdown following the incident and several other schools were placed in a hold and secure as a precautionary measure.
