Fall colours – On a beautiful day for horseback riding, a group of 50 riders got together to raise money for Hospice Wellington. Organizer Lynn Smillie said the third annual Hooves for Hospice event raised $8,000 on Oct. 17. That’s more than double the amount raised last year, she said. The money goes towards feeding families whose loved ones are in hospice care and providing supplies in the kitchen so families can focus on being with their loved ones. Riders brought their horses from as far away as Owen Sound and Woodstock to Smillie’s farm on the 4th Line in Centre Wellington. They rode through eight different neighbouring farms.
