GUELPH — On May 24, the Guelph Community Foundation announced its Musagetes Fund recipients for this year.
The funding decision was made the week of May 8 by fundholders, and $49,180 was distributed too 11 charitable organizations in Guelph and Wellington County.
Since 2004, the donor-advised granting stream has provided grants to registered charities that provide contemporary art and culture programming.
The grant is specifically interested in funding new approaches to building community and culture.
Officials say preference was given to organizations that “engage a community-based partner who satisfies a connection to social justice, environmental resilience, and intercultural relationships through the arts.”
Officials added the fund is intended to “act as a catalyst for the ongoing production and enjoyment of performing, visual, and literary arts excellence in Guelph and area.”
The foundation said its “so grateful to be able to help support the arts in our community so they can continue to inspire, challenge, and delight their audiences.”
