GUELPH – The Grove and Skyline are thrilled to announce the lineup for Ignite Concert 2022, the youth hub’s first fundraising event.
The concert takes place July 2 at The GrandWay Events Centre in Elora.
The lineup includes some popular Canadian talent such as Juno award-winning alt rock band Dear Rouge, Danny Michel (presented by Hillside Festival) and JESSIA (presented by Riverfest Elora).
Also performing will be local artists The New People, SHEBAD and Chelsie Popp.
These musical acts will be mixed with presentations from The Grove and an original song written by Alan Doyle, lead singer of the Canadian folk-rock band Great Big Sea, in collaboration with local youth.
This outdoor event will also feature a food truck alley, beer garden, VIP patio, artist merchandise tents and more.
“We are thrilled to announce this lineup for ignite,” says Jeff Hoffman, chief development officer at The Grove.
“We sought out artists that would appeal to all community members so that everyone could be included and enjoy the celebrations we’re having together.
“We’re so excited to gather the community together to raise awareness for youth mental health – it’s going to be something you don’t want to miss.”
Headliner Dear Rouge, a Juno award-winning Vancouver-based alternative rock band, formed in 2012 and released their latest album Spirit on April 8.
This record serves as an exploration of ponderings and themes around what the word “spirit” means and represents the spirit behind the concert.
Other local artists – The New People, SHEBAD and Chelsie Popp – will further showcase the talent and support that exists in the local community.
JESSIA is a pop singer from Ucluelet, British Columbia, best known for her 2021 single “I’m Not Pretty,” championed by Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer Ryan Tedder.
Her hit single is about self-love and body acceptance for everyone, encouraging anyone who may be struggling to find inner peace to ask for help when it’s needed – an excellent representation of what The Grove stands for.
The Grove’s ignite concert aims to celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of The Grove and local youth over the past year while raising funds for the organization to better support youth mental health and wellness.
It will also present an opportunity to raise awareness about The Grove and the current state of youth mental health in Guelph and Wellington County.
As the presenting sponsor of ignite, Skyline continues to show its support of The Grove.
Offering subsidized rent and shared resources, the Hub allows for community service providers to spend less on operating costs.
Skyline Community Hub became home to The Grove Fergus location in August of 2021, where it shares space with like-minded community organizations.
“Through working with The Grove Hubs, we have seen how our shared values have been able to positively impact the Guelph and Wellington community,” says R. Jason Ashdown, co-founder and chief sustainability officer of Skyline Group of Companies.
“Right now, our youth need us to rally around them with support, and there’s no better place to start than at ignite this summer.”
