The gift of hearing

Helen Buckton was delighted to receive the News that her daughter, Tina Buckton, had nominated her and that she was the recipient of the Gift of Hearing contest at the Hear Well Be Well. There were nine recipients total, one in each of the Hear Well Be Well locations.

Hear Well Be Well teamed up with Beltone Canada in May to ask south and central Ontario residents to nominate friends and family who would benefit from receiving the precious gift of better hearing. The program provided a recipient for each of nine Hear Well Be Well offices with a complete hearing test and fitting of two Beltone art hearing aids.

“It is no longer a pleasure for her to hear the birds singing,” Tina said in her nomination. She wrote a compelling account of Helen’s ongoing struggle with hearing loss over a number of years and describes her mom as an avid lover of the great outdoors, who hasn’t been able to enjoy the simple pleasure being outside provides.

“More than anything though, I would love to give her the gift of hearing her great-great-grandson make his first sounds.”

John Tiede, founder and co-CEO of Hear Well Be WeIl said in a press release, “Hearing well is such a vital part of living well.

“We are so excited to join Beltone. This partnership is a true coming together of like-mindedness; we are both committed to providing exceptional products and services to our clientele; to caring deeply for our associates, our clients and our communities; and to doing charitable work both locally and abroad to help as many people as we can to hear well again.”

Frank Skubski, general manager of Beltone Canada said, “Helping people hear better is what we do at Beltone.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling to work for a company that was founded on an act of kindness. I’m very proud to partner with Hear Well Be Well to give back to communities across Ontario.”
