The Fitzgeralds to perform at the Fergus Grand Theatre

The Fitzgeralds, a family group, are set to make a long awaited return to the Fergus Grand Theatre on Feb. 6.

The group consists of fiddling and step dancing siblings Tom, Kerry and Julie Fitzgerald. The show features three-time Canadian Grand Master Fiddle Champions and Ontario Open Step Dance Champions with high energy fiddling and “mind blowing” stepdancing.

Also joining the group on stage will be stepdancer and  guitarist Kyle Waymouth.

Growing up on the outskirts of the Ottawa Valley, these siblings were immersed in the rich tradition of Canadian old time fiddling and stepdancing that evolved with the arrival of Irish, Scottish and French Immigrants.

Over time they have developed their art form to include various styles of fiddle music including Celtic, jazz, bluegrass, French-Canadian and pop.

The siblings continue to push boundaries by fusing traditional and modern styles of fiddling and dance to create their own unique sound and style, officials state.

Anyone interested in participating in a fiddle or stepdance workshop the afternoon of the concert can visit www.weealec.com or call Scott Moir at 519-820-4430 for more information.

The show will take place on Feb. 16 at 8pm at the Fergus Grand Theatre. Tickets are $27 for adults and $15 for youth and can be purchased at the theatre box office at 244 St. Andrew St. W., by phone at 519-787-1981 or online at www.fergusgrandtheatre.ca.
