The Elora Festival announces lineup for 46th annual festival

ELORA – The renowned Elora Festival returns this summer, featuring acclaimed international artists, talented soloists, and special venues. 

The festival, curated by artistic director Mark Vuorinen, will take place from July 11 to 27 in venues in Elora and Fergus. 

Tickets are now available by calling 519-846-0331 or online at elorafestival.ca.  Highlight concerts include:

– Opening Night Gala: The Genius of Mozart on July 11 at 7:30pm. This  promises an extraordinary evening of incredible music as the 46th Elora Festival opens with the brilliance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart;

– Jeremy Dutcher in Concert on July 12 at 7:30pm. Jeremy Dutcher is a two-spirit song carrier, composer, activist, ethnomusicologist, and classically-trained vocalist; 

– Chanticleer: Without a Song on July 16 at 7:30pm. Chanticleer is a San Francisco-based Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble;

Kaleidoscope: Autorickshaw, Penderecki String Quartet, The Elora Singers on July 18 at 7:30pm. This is a special one-time-only concert event of north-south-east-west fusion; 

– The Elora Singers and Junges Vokalensemble Hannover on July 19 at 7:30pm. The Elora Festival welcomes the Junges Vokalensemble Hannover and their conductor, Prof. Klaus-Jürgen Etzold from Germany; 

– The Gesualdo Six: Fading on July 24 at 7:30pm. The award-winning British vocal ensemble, The Gesualdo Six, is directed by Owain Park and features some of the UK’s finest consort singers;

Unplugged on July 25, at 7:30pm. Back by popular demand, The Elora Singers take on Broadway classics and pop hits – solo and in small ensembles; and

– Festival Finale: Heroic Handel on July 26 at 7:30pm. The 46th Elora Festival comes to a close with a spectacular concert of the music of George Frideric Handel.  

Of course there are more than these highlight concerts. And more than just vocal performances.

Chamber concerts and other instrumental performances are part of the festival and concerts are held in unexpected places, like the Gambrel Barn, the Fieldstone Barn, and even in a forest.

Adult tickets range from $75 for the featured concerts, to $55 for many of them, to $20 for the closing, family-friendly barn dance, with food trucks, games, and live bluegrass music by the Barrel Boys.

There is reduced pricing for students and children for all the concerts.

There will also be free 45-minute concerts in the Green Space in downtown Elora throughout the festival.
