The Door Youth Centre to hold grand reopening

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Door Youth Centre, also known as the Ministry of Youth Unlimited (YFC) Highlands, in Fergus is hosting an open house and reopening on Nov. 4 from 1 to 4pm.

At the event, attendees can take a tour of the centre and see “The Door of the past” and learn about YFC’s plans for the future of The Door.

The open house is the official reopening of the Youth Centre after being closed since January 2021.

The Centre is reopening in the same location it’s been in since 2017. Prior to that, it was located across from Templin Gardens.

“Our hope is to invite the community to see The Door Youth Centre for the first time, or for those who have been here in the past, to revisit the centre once again,” said Kelly Culp in an email statement to th e Advertiser.

Staff and volunteers will be there to greet all community members who would like a tour of the building.

There will also be opportunity to enjoy the amenities the centre offers such as pool, air hockey, board and video games, art, music and more.

The Door Youth Centre has been in Centre Wellington since 2002.

In that time, it has existed to support the youth of the community by connecting them with local supports and services, providing mentorship and offering various programs designed to help each youth grow in all areas of their life.

“We hope by having people visit the centre they will have the chance to spread the word about who we are and what we do. We want the youth of Centre Wellington to know that we are once again here,” said Culp.

No registration is required for the Open House, it is a come and go event.
