The Bro Show hospital fundraiser returns

FERGUS – The hotly anticipated Bro Show is returning and, as always, it promises to be an evening of fun and frivolity and doing good for the community at the same time.

Based on Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans, the Fergus version features local men modelling outlandish bras that have been designed and decorated by local artists and entrepreneurs.

Then the bidding begins, and the bras are auctioned off – right off the backs of the male models on stage.

“It’s a wild time,” said Mary Lloyd, one of the organizers. “Last year we sold out and we’re hoping for that same problem this time too.”

The event is a fundraiser for the Groves hospital foundation – specifically for motorized lifts over patient beds. Lloyd joked that these “Bros in Bras” will continue to support Groves’ patients long after the party is over.

The event takes place Feb. 21 at the Fergus Legion. Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 7pm. There will be a silent auction table, some light snacks and a cash bar.

Lloyd wouldn’t divulge names but suggested the volunteer models are men locals would likely see around the community.

“Some are returning models so it can’t be too bad of an experience,” she said. “Overall it’s a good, community, fun thing. Grab your girlfriends and go!”

Tickets are $15, available at Frabert’s, JJ’s Family Dining, Jaboli, Joanie’s, Salon on the Grand, and Sensational You.
