Thank you!

Thank you.

Many business people have been on tender hooks waiting for word on a Canada Post service disruption.

The on-and-off again prospect of a strike or lock-out would at the very least cause inconvenience and in some cases downright hardship if the post office were to shut down for an extended period of time.

We left the post office for delivery purposes years ago. Our local offices and their staff always treated us well, but head office couldn’t seem to establish affordable rates and reasonable terms for their services. Since we distribute free to every home, we don’t qualify for subsidies granted subscribed papers. C’est la vie.

The indomitable fashion in which we run our company is something we share with other entrepreneurs. A bold spirit and independent streak however has to include thoughts for others. With a strike there would be the potential to impact cash flow. Many small businesses, particularly those dealing with rural clientele or whose offices are in small towns, still rely on mail to receive bills and send payments. It was heartening to hear from our sales reps and accounting staff about the number of customers wanting to ensure we receive payment – recognizing the challenges a small business faces when cash flow is impacted. Phone calls started when the statement arrived suggesting a cheque could be picked up, payment would be dropped off or some even chose to pay with a credit card over the phone.

Given our experience, we are sure other owners had a similar smile knowing customers appreciate and understand the impact such events can have on a small business.

For your thoughtfulness we thank you.
