ABOYNE – On March 31 at 2pm, the Gallery Concert Series will bring A Teddy Bear’s Picnic to the Wellington County Museum and Archives.
The five members of the Venturi Winds will offer many pieces of music attractive to children, along with explanations of the workings of instruments and stories behind the compositions.
The concert takes place at the Wellington County Museum Exhibition Hall, situated between Elora and Fergus at Aboyne.
The program will include The Lion and The Mouse, The Unhappy Ardvark, Song for Catherine, I Bought Me A Cat, and of course The Teddy Bear’s Picnic.
Members of the Venturi Winds group will play a variety of instruments, including flute, oboe, piccolo, French horn, clarinet, horn and bassoon.
There will be a narrator for some items on this varied program.
During the short intermission, all the exhibits at the museum can be enjoyed.
The concert ends with refreshments and opportunities to meet the instrumentalists.
Tickets to this concert are only $1 for youth under 16 and $10 for adults and seniors.
This is the final concert of the year in the Gallery Concert Series and serves as an excellent introduction for children to wind instruments, organizers state.
“Our thanks to all the musicians who have donated their time and talents over the season of six concerts, and to the enthusiastic audiences and organizers, especially Judith Douglas who engages the artists for this annual non-profit music series co-sponsored by the Elora Arts Council and the Wellington County Museum and Archives,” organizers state.
