Team Canada in Bielsko-Biala, Poland

Planes, trains, automobiles and Segways, Ravi Seth from Centre Wellington rode them all this summer during his trip to Bielsko-Biala, Poland.

Seth joined squash teammates from across the country to represent Canada at the 2016 World Junior Squash Championships, Aug. 6 to 7 in Poland.

Team Canada travelled first to Prague, Czech Republic to train for one week before heading to Bielsko-Biala.

Over 120 top squash juniors from around the world competed in Individual and Team events.

Canada placed 11th out of 21 countries after exciting matches with Zimbabwe, England, Israel, New Zealand, Hong Kong and South Africa. The World Junior Squash Championships occurs annually, alternating each year between Men’s and Women’s Team events.

Seth earned his spot on Team Canada after successfully competing in national qualification events over the past two years. The culminating event was Squash Canada’s World Junior Men’s Team Trials held in Winnipeg in May.

Seth stepped up his game, winning first his pool and then the whole event in a five-set clincher against number one seed and teammate Matthew Henderson from BC. Like his brother Cameron, who made the World Junior Team in 2012, and his sisters (Micaala, Natasha, Marisa), Seth is continuing to follow both his passion for squash and academics at the University of Waterloo this fall.
