Survivor brings message to local students

Holocaust survivor and author Dr. Eva Olsson will draw on her personal experience to deliver next week a message of peace and justice and of eliminating hatred and bullying to local students.

Olsson, 88, will provide a free presentation to the public at Wellington Heights Secondary School (WHSS), located at 405 Sligo Road East in Mount Forest, on Oct. 10 at 7pm.

On Oct. 11 Olsson will speak to WHSS at 9am during a private assembly.

Later that day Olsson will make a presentation at Arthur Public School at 2pm. During the same assembly there will be an unofficial dedication of the new war mural in downtown Arthur.

Olsson was raised as an Hasidic Jew in the slums of Szatmar, Hungary. At the age of 19, she and her family, along with other Jews, were rounded up on trains and transported to Auschwitz-Berkinow.It was there Olsson and her sister Fradel were separated from the rest of their family, most of whom she never saw again.
