The Superstars Baton Club attended the 2015 Summer Twirl Competition in Newmarket on June 13. Approximately 40 athletes attended this competition from Richmond Hill, Fergus, Kitchener, Arthur, Buffalo, Brampton and Mississauga.
The club did well grabbing 1st in 16 individual events and one duet event and the teams of ‘Conga’ and ‘Moulin Rouge’ both won 1st in their divisions.
Individual results are as follows.
Mackenzie Fraser, 8, of Arthur was 4th in beginner basic march, 2nd in her novice solo and placed 2nd in novice summer twirl pageant.
Alyssa George, 11, of Fergus was 1st in beginner 2baton, 3baton, strut and intermediate solo and won the intermediate summer twirl pageant.
Hayleigh Homer, 12, of Fergus was 1st in advanced basic march, 2nd in beginner 2baton and 3rd in beginner strut, and won the beginner summer twirl pageant.
Morgan Hutchison, 8, of Arthur was 6th in novice solo
Skylar Irwin, 12, of Arthur was 1st in novice 2baton, 2nd in beginner solo, 3rd in novice strut, and 4th beginner summer twirl pageant
Paige Johnston, 7, of Arthur was 1st in novice 2baton, 2nd in novice strut and beginner solo and 2nd in beginner summer twirl pageant.
Shayla Logel, 10, of Elora was 1st in beginner basic march, 2nd in novice 2baton, 4th in beginner solo and won the novice summer twirl pageant.
Elsie Post , 9, of Arthur was 1st in intermediate solo, and strut and 2baton and beginner rhythmic twirl and won the intermediate summer twirl pageant.
Lauren Robb, 15, of Fergus was 1st in intermediate 2baton and beginner 3baton and 3rd in beginner strut and 3rd in intermediate summer twirl pageant.
Jayda Saunder, 6, of Fergus was 1st in novice solo
Lainey Saunder, 8, of Fergus was 8th in novice solo
Makenzie Worton, 13, of Fergus was 1st in intermediate solo and beginner 2baton, 2nd in beginner strut and 4th in the intermediate summer twirl pageant.
The duet team of Homer and Irwin was 1st, Alexis Herriot and Melissa Ireland’s duet was 2nd and the team of George and Worton was 2nd. The twirlers are trained by Krista DiStasi of Fergus.
