Sunrise holding ‘Drivers for Riders’ car rally fundraiser

PUSLINCH – Sunrise Therapeutic Riding and Learning Centre has come up with a fundraiser that just might withstand COVID-19 restrictions.

It certainly will be fun for participants and help the centre care for and train its horses until it can offer its regular services again, organizers say.

“Drivers for Riders” is a family-friendly mystery car rally, where participants will answer trivia questions as they make their way along the route.

Participants are invited to decorate their vehicle and wear costumes for prizes, although this is not required.

There are also prizes for highest pledges.

Registration is $50 – waived for pledges of $200 or more.

The event is on June 13 but registration closes April 23 and there is a 40-car limit on participation.

Participants will receive:

  • complimentary family photo (with or without horse), by John Wood Photography;
  • great prizes/box refreshments; and
  • a chance to win a day with Track Attack Canada:  A day of filming and “behind the scenes experiences,” as they review the newest exotic car on laps around the track and you travel as the passenger, either at Toronto Motor Sports (Kayuga) or Mosport Park.

Sunrise therapy horses have a calming and empowering effect on clients who are often children with physical or developmental challenges, and COVID-19  has meant the centre has had to close its doors to clients.

But the horses still need to be cared for, and this is what the fundraiser is for.

“Your participation  in ‘Drivers for Riders’ will help to raise much-needed funds to ensure our team of therapy horses receive continuing care and training in preparation for renewed empowering programs once restrictions are lifted,” organizers say

So, enjoy an afternoon drive with fun questions, safely within in your family bubble inside your car.
