KENILWORTH – Summer day camps will be returning to Arthur and Mount Forest.
On Feb. 4, Wellington North councillors supported the recommendation of the recreation and culture committee.
Part of that recommendation resulted from survey responses for the proposed Wellington North summer day camp program.
Further, the recreation committee recommended implementation of the summer day camp program this year in both communities.
The camps will run from 7:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, beginning the first week in July through to the second last week in August with registration.
Fees are expected to be set at $32 per day, $140 per week, or $125 per week for two or more children in the same house.
The community recreation coordinator was also directed to create a policy and procedures handbook for day camp staff.
Councillor Steve McCabe said he thinks this fits in with the township’s master recreation plan.
“There was overwhelming interest in both Mount Forest and Arthur.”
He added, “It’s nice to be able to provide these services to the residents again.”
Councillor Lisa Hern agreed.
“I think there’s interest – and a huge need,” she said. “This fills a void in the community.”
Council subsequently endorsed the recommendation.
