ABOYNE – The Summer Concert Series is starting up at the Wellington County Museum and Archives every Thursday from 7pm to 8m from July 21 to Aug. 18.
“We’re excited to be able to support local musicians and get everyone together outside during the nice summer weather,” said program assistant Emily Peters.
The concert takes place outside of the Heritage Barn on museum grounds, bring your own lawn chair of blanket. The concert series runs rain or shine, with festivities likely to move inside the historic barn if need be.
Ticket price is $10, purchased at the door. Since the concert operates outdoors, there shouldn’t be a limit to how many people can attend.
“You might have to squish in a little bit to find a space, but we’re able to accept as many people as want to come in and participate,” said Peters.
There will be locally-produced drinks available for purchase.
The Summer Concert Series is a long standing Museum and Archives event, and has been running for at least a decade. Cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, this will be the events second year back, and after the warm reception last year, Peters added that they are excited to return for 2022.
“It was busier than what we had seen before. So I think it really showed how much people missed being able to get together and gatherings and have some community events going on,” said Peters.
The line up features all Wellington County musicians, both new and returning performers to the series. SouthWind is a brand new band to the series, said Peters.
The museum is always looking for new local musicians for their series. Anyone who might be a fit for next year’s series is more than welcome to contact the museum, detailed Peters.
