Several students from local high schools recently earned medals at the Ontario Technological Skills Competition (OTSC).
More than 1,800 students from across the province competed in 63 events on May 6 and 7 at the OTSC, Canada’s largest skilled trades and technology contest.
Most of the gold-medal winners from the OTSC, held at RIM park and Manulife Financial Sportsplex in Waterloo, will advanced to the Skills Canada National Competition taking place in Edmonton, May 13 to 16.
Wellington County students who won medals at the OTSC include:
– Centre Wellington District High School student Josh Caldwell of Elora, silver medal in job interview;
– Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School student Spencer Lavigne of Elora, bronze medal in computer aided manufacturing;
– Erin District High School student Blake Nicholson of Erin, silver medal in architectural technology and design;
– College Heights Secondary School student Josh Berger of Hillsburgh, gold medal in team (2) landscape gardening;
– Wellington Heights Secondary School student Jesse Walsh of Arthur, gold medal in team (2) carpentry; and
– Wellington Heights Secondary School student Trevor Piller of Kenilworth, gold medal in team (2) carpentry.
