June 23 is the annual Alma and Goldstone United Church strawberry social which will be held from 5 to 8pm at Alma United Church.
Volunteer work committees handle menu planning, decorating, food preparation and clean up. Over 100 volunteers are on hand.
A record crowd of 1,000 people attend back in 1994 for the centennial celebrations. Most years between 300 and 400 people are served.
The menu for this year will an old fashioned country style meal with all-you-can-eat ham, potato salad, cabbage salad, jellied salads, deviled eggs and pickles. Dessert will feature home made tarts, cakes, and of course fresh strawberries.
The event goes on rain or shine, with supper served in the church basement if it rains.
Tickets are $12 per adult, and $4 per child. Dinner is served from 5 to 8pm, with entertainment to follow.
