Everyone is invited to the 2011 annual general meeting and stewardship forum of the Wellington County Stewardship Council.
The meeting will take place at 7pm on April 14 at Aboyne Hall in the Wellington County Museum.
The council is a group of community leaders who stimulate stewardship action through partnership, education and direct, hands-on activity. The meeting is an opportunity to network and share ideas with partners so people can work together to advance good land stewardship.
Every year, the council picks a theme and invites partners who are involved in that area of stewardship. This year, the theme is Farmer Meets Forest, which actually deals not only with forests and woodlots, but all natural features on the farm.
The first guest speaker, Terry Schwan, will talk about how well a managed woodlot can improve the bottom line. David Lamble will increase everyone’s knowledge and awareness of birds on the farm.
This meeting a free event, but organizers would appreciate an RSVP by April 11 to ensure enough refreshments and seating.
The meeting will also include a report from Stewardship Coordinator Larry Halyk and questions and group discussion.
There will be an opportunity for everyone to share their thoughts on stewardship on the farm. Closing remarks will be by Holly Nadalin, past chairman of the council.
Aboyne Hall is located in the Wellington County Museum on County Road 18 midway between Fergus and Elora.
