Fergus and the Scottish Festival and Highland Games go hand in hand.
It’s time for a hand-up for this venerable institution that has delighted those interested in all things Scottish for generations. In a News release this week the board of directors highlight many challenges faced by the group.
Most notably, its rainy day fund accumulated over the years has evaporated. One would have to think that was a function of weather, but instead, it was due to being reviewed by Canada Revenue Agency and having to pony up $78,000 since its status as an amateur athletic event was revoked.
There have been other challenges noted in its release, but to their credit, the board wants to continue.
With assistance from this community and support for its fundraising efforts, the festival will be revived and enjoyed for generations to come.
It’s time to step up and help.
