Racing season at Full Throttle Motor Speedway south of Durham will be coming a lot quicker this year.
It was recently announced that the quarter mile high banked oval will host a Run What Ya’ Brung ENDURO-style “Sprint Into Spring 200” race March 21 starting at 1pm with the winner receiving a Turn-Key 360 Winged Sprint Car ($35,000+ value) as the winning trophy.
This will be one of the biggest races of the season and will see racers from all different classes and all types, along with people who have never raced before in their life, come together on one track. Competitors will come with their cars but only one person will go home with a car – this race is for pink slips.
The race format will see drivers draw for starting position and run a 90 lap segment, followed by another 90 lap segment using an inversion for the starting positions from the first segment. Then from the two segments the top 20 drivers with the combined best finishes will go all out in a final 20-lap segment with the winner taking home the top prize.
As an added bonus the spectator gate admission will be a food or cash donation in support of the food banks in West Grey, Hanover and Mount Forest.
