The annual Sensational Elora Soup Off is on and organizers are looking for chefs of all levels to help make a tasty event into another successful fundraiser.
Participants who think they make a fabulous soup and are willing to serve it up to a jury of peers vying for the coveted title of Best Soup, will also help support a project that raises money and awareness for hunger and poverty here in Centre Wellington.
All proceeds go to the Centre Wellington Food Bank and The Centre Wellington District High School Breakfast Program.
The event offers three competitive categories:
-Professional – those who cook for a living
– Youth – young chefs in the making
– Amateurs – those who make soup for the love of it.
Chefs are asked to prepare approximately 18 litres (20 quarts) of their favorite soup recipe, using fresh local ingredients where possible.
Soup makers must provide the recipe or at least the ingredients list.
The event takes place on Oct. 8 from 1pm to 4pm at Aboyne Hall in the Wellington County Museum.
Sign up online at www.sensationalelora.com to enter or pick up a printed copy of the application form at the Elora Information Centre, 9 East Mill St.
All applications must be submitted by Oct. 1.
