WELLINGTON COUNTY – The County of Wellington’s Solid Waste Services manager Das Soligo has been elected for a two-year term as president of the Ontario Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA).
Soligo has served on the chapter board of directors for four years, and has been the province’s safety ambassador for the past three years.
He helped organize three Safety Summits while promoting best management safety practices for all Ontario waste industry professionals.
“During my term as president of the Ontario chapter of SWANA, I aim to build on our leadership role in providing operational expertise, and to continue exciting initiatives like our recent advocacy work and providing training to First Nations communities,” said Soligo.
“With so many changes in the waste industry, I look forward to working with the SWANA team to bring about improvements to the environment through enhanced waste management practices and expertise.”
SWANA, with over 11,000 members throughout North America, is the largest member-based association in the world. It represents solid waste professionals in the public and private sectors.
The Ontario Chapter serves its 300-plus members by providing professional development training, educational seminars and certifications.
