Skyline to match donations to Elora Centre for the Arts

CENTRE WELLINGTON – In an effort to increase holiday donations this year, Skyline Group of Companies has pledged to match donations to the Elora Centre for the Arts, up to $10,000.

“Skyline has supported some of our programs in the past,” said executive director of the Elora Centre for the Arts, Lianne Carter.

“So, this year, we were like, okay, well, how can we get their willingness to support our community and partner with us? How can we use that to encourage other people to also give. And so, they agreed that their gift to us can be used as a matching opportunity for people.”

The campaign was announced on Nov. 28 but officially kicked off on “Giving Tuesday,” Dec. 3.

The campaign will run until midnight on Dec. 31.

“At Skyline we strongly believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back,” said co-founder and chief sustainability officer at Skyline Group of Companies, Jason Ashdown in a press release.

“The Elora Centre for the Arts outreach programs foster creativity, resilience and connection, and make a profound difference for those in need.

“By matching donations this holiday season, we hope to inspire others to join us in supporting these vital programs and creating a lasting impact in our community.”

Donations made to the Elora Centre for the Arts will go towards the outreach programs offered by the centre.

“We’re going to focus on our outreach programs, which are programs that serve people in our community with sort of significant challenges,” said Carter.

The centre offers three programs, supportive arts for adults with disabilities, a youth addiction and recovery program in partnership with Portage Elora Drug Addiction Rehabilitation Centre for Youth, and community connections through art. All of these are offered to the community for free or at a highly subsidized cost.

“It takes a village,” said Carter. “It’s like, yes, it takes Skyline to do this great thing, but it also takes everybody who’s hopefully considering giving to do it as well, and we couldn’t do it otherwise so we’re so thankful for the support from our community.”
