Sixty blood donors needed in Elora on January 3

ELORA – Canadian Blood Services is asking Elora blood donors to roll up their sleeves on Jan. 3 to help ensure patients’ needs are met over a busy holiday season.

The Fergus clinic on Dec. 18 was a fabulous success, bringing in 101 donors, but many donations are still needed throughout the holidays to support those in need, officials say.

Since blood products have a limited shelf life, the demand for blood never stops; cancer patients, accident victims and people with blood disorders rely on blood transfusions every day.

Platelets, a component of blood, only have a shelf life of seven days, making the holiday period a time of great need.

Sixty blood donations are needed at the Elora Donor Centre on Jan. 3 to ensure local patients receive the blood they need.

The Elora donor centre is on Jan. 3 from 3 to 7pm at the Elora Community Centre.

To book an appointment today, locate a donor centre, check your eligibility and more, download the GiveBlood app available on iOS or Android, visit www.blood.ca or call 18882DONATE.
