The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has concluded its investigation of an accident here on July 4.
SIU Acting Director Joseph Martino announced that the unit, which investigates incidents involving police, had terminated its investigation into a vehicular injury of a 43-year-old man in Erin earlier this month.
The incident, involving an officer with the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment, occurred on July 4, a press release from the unit stated.
On July 4, at 2:26pm, the Wellington County OPP investigated a single motor vehicle crash with the assistance of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) unit. County OPP officers were attempting to stop the motor vehicle when the driver lost control.
As a result of the police investigation, Jason Duncan, 43, of Erin, was charged with impaired driving, driving while disqualified, flight from police, speeding and driving with more than 80mg of alcohol per 100mL of blood in his system.
He is to appear in court on July 22.
