The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after a local woman was injured in police custody.
On July 27 at 9:15am, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a residence on Roger Court in Centre Wellington Township to investigate a 911 call. On arrival officers spoke to the female caller. After a brief interaction it was determined that she needed medical attention for health concerns. The female reported an injury after being taken into police custody and was assessed at a local hospital.
The SIU was notified and has invoked its mandate. As a result the OPP state they will not be able to provide any further information.
