WELLINGTON COUNTY – The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after a person arrested by local police reported an injury while in custody.
In a Feb. 24 press release, Wellington County OPP officials stated police officers “arrested and charged an individual in connection with a criminal investigation” on Feb. 23 at about 5:30pm.
The next day, “while in custody, the individual advised of an injury and was transported to a local hospital for assessment.
“They were later released from hospital and returned to police custody.”
Police did not specify where the arrest occurred or say where the individual arrested resides.
The SIU has invoked its mandate, police say, so “the OPP will not be able to provide further information.”
