Simone Kent enters election race in Wellington-Halton Hills

FERGUS – Fergus resident Simone Kent has entered the provincial election as the NDP candidate for Wellington-Halton Hills.

Kent grew up in Etobicoke before moving to Ottawa to pursue a degree in chemical engineering.

She embraced rural life after marrying her dairy farmer husband and actively joined local dairy clubs and community events, including the Fergus Fall Fair.

Her political journey began when she ran for township councillor in 2006, an experience that propelled her to become involved in the environmental committee and serve as a union representative.

She is currently an office  coordinator at a school in the Upper Grand District School Board.

“Having witnessed firsthand the consequences of Doug Ford’s cuts to our education and health care systems, I am compelled to take action,” said Kent.

“It’s heartbreaking to see our schools in disrepair, our hospitals stretched thin, and families unable to afford their basic needs.

“The time for change is now.”
