Sherlock Holmes comes to Century Church Theatre

Ken Ludwig’s new comedy, The Game’s Afoot, or Holmes for the Holidays will be opening at Century Church Theatre in Hillsburgh on May 26.

The play won the 2012 Mystery Writers of America’s Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Mystery Play. Ludwig has won two Laurence Olivier Awards, and has been nominated for three Tony Awards.

Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his play about Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast members to his home for a weekend of Christmas holiday revelry.

When one of the guests is murdered, the festivities in this house of tricks and mirrors turn dangerous, and Gillette assumes the persona of Holmes to track down the killer.

Directed by Jo Phenix, this meticulously plotted play offers something for the mystery buff as well as those who love a rollicking comedy, theatre officials say.

The cast features some faces familiar at the Century – Greg Allen, John Lefebvre, Michelle Salmon, and Brigida Scholten – and welcomes several talented newcomers to the Guild: Patricia Ball, Rebecca Castellino, Lindsay Grisebach, and Chris Mackay.

The Thea Award-winning stage manager Erin Montgomery takes the helm again.

The shows runs May 26 to June 4, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2:30pm.

Tickets are available by calling box office from 9am to 9pm, seven days a week at 519-855-4586, with Visa or Mastercard, or download a mailable order form at www.centurychurchtheatre.com
