Shareable moment

Business owners throughout Wellington, Huron, Perth and Waterloo have the opportunity to enter the Shareable Moment Challenge.

Think “Toronto” letters outside of Toronto City Hall.

The idea is to come up with a shareworthy moments that will encourage visitors to stop, take a photo and share it on social media.

The initiative is run by RT04 and winning submissions will funding to bring the idea to life. RT04 is investing a total of $30,000 in selected projects.

Applications are due on Jan. 15, winners will be announced in February and the projects will need to be rolled out in spring.

Another anniversary alert. Ivan Armstrong Trucking in Arthur is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

The trucking company has grown from two trucks hauling livestock to a fleet of trucks shipping automotive parts across eastern North America.

Ivan Armstrong Trucking now has 50,000 square feet of warehouse space and a location in Mount Forest.

Just as important, Ivan Armstong Trucking is involved in the local community as members of the chamber of commerce and they try to hire local workers. The business also supports minor sports, Wellington North Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Bowl for Kids’ Sake and Get in Touch for Hutch.

Hensall District Co-operative, which has a location in Drayton, has pledged $100,000 for a   proposed new Ontario Sustainable Crop Research and Innovation Centre at the University of Guelph’s Ridgetown Campus.

Ridgetown’s plans are for a two-phase project and Hensall’s pledge will support the second phase of the project to construct several specialized research labs for Ridgetown’s 20-plus agricultural scientists as their current facilities have reached their life expectancy.

A new business, which is like two businesses in one, is holding its grand opening in Elora on Nov. 2.

Reach Link/DogWatch will be located at Unit 1, 66 Wellington Road 7 in Elora.

Reach Link offers installation and support for rural internet service and are an authorized dealer for Xplornet Communications.

On the other hand, DogWatch offers Pro Pet Fences.

Its website states, “We specialize in pet containment, pet training aids and pet access solutions.”
