ELORA – Sensational Elora has announced a return to normal as a couple of its tried and true events are coming back.
First up is Pumpkin Day.
This is a free family event on Oct. 8 from 10am to 1pm in Bissell Park, right beside the farmers’ market.
This wonderful day is a celebration of the end of the harvest season and provides free children’s activities and entertainment for the whole family.
There will be a pumpkin carving contest with prizes, face-painting, an expert giant pumpkin carver, Mapleton Organic ice cream, bouncy castle, music from Turk and the Hobbitt, Highland dancing, Bubbleology and a reptile show.
All activities are free but donations to the Centre Wellington Foodbank are welcome.
On Oct. 10 (Thanksgiving Monday), the Sensational Soup-Off and Empty Bowls event returns, from 1 to 4pm at the Wellington County Museum.
This is Sensational Elora’s signature event to combat food insecurity in Centre Wellington and is a fantastic way to share in the spirit of Thanksgiving.
“Due to the generosity of our sponsors, local potters who have donated bowls and volunteer soup-makers, we are excited about the event this year,” said Sensational Elora chair Kirk McElwain.
“We’re also delighted that Madison Galloway and Liam Grier have agreed to share their music with us for the afternoon.”
In its first 12 years of operations, Sensational Elora raised over $120,000 that was split between the Centre Wellington Foodbank and the Centre Wellington District High School breakfast program.
Sensational Elora welcomes new volunteer soup-makers in all three categories: professional, amateur and youth to come out and strut your stuff.
This is a fun way to share your soup skills with the community for a great cause.
The winner of each category receives a beautiful one-of-a-kind hand-made soup ladle from Metallic Evolution and most importantly, the title of “Super Souper of the year.”
