Apparently there is a number of local citizens who would like to help Minto see the light – Christmas lights that is.
Late last year, councillors discussed purchasing new Christmas lights for Clifford.
At that time, the economic development and planning committee recommended the town purchase 18 new Christmas decorations. However council’s decision was to take a look at more local suppliers.
At the time, councillor Wayne Martin said he was certain some of the choices could be found locally, and that it “was in the best interest of everyone to take a look.”
As a result, the lighting discussion seems to have drawn sparks of interest.
Recent reports from the economic development committee had Director of Public Services Norm Fisk commenting that he has had many local people expressing an interest in supplying the town with the Christmas lights.
Martin suggested that the downtown revitalization committees be involved in selecting the lights to be purchased for each community.
