Centre Wellington Township has received another payment for hosting the slots facility here.
OLG slots sent the township a second quarter share of the profits, five per cent, worth $610,081 for hosting the slots.
The township sends a portion of that money to Wellington County, and the remainder is placed in a reserve account to pay for infrastructure projects such as bridges and roads. The township has been using the money to leverage extra cash from federal and provincial grant programs. To date, the township has received more than $8.6-million since December 2003, when the facility opened.
OLG issued more than $19-million in payments to municipalities in the second quarter for hosting slots facilities as their 5 per cent share of the profits.
Race tracks and horse people also receive a share of the slots profits, with their revenue set at 20% of the slots profits.
OLG slots and casinos provide the Trillium Fund with cash that it uses to pay for community projects through community grants.
