Scotland Street bridge work to begin June 27 in Fergus

The County of Wellington has hired a contractor to complete repairs to the concrete curb on the east side of the Caldwell Bridge on Scotland Street in Fergus.

Work will commence on June 27 and is expected to last three to four weeks. Wellington County construction manager Mark Eby said the project may be completed quicker, depending on what is found when the existing concrete is chipped away for replacement.

To facilitate a safe work environment (construction zone) for the contractor, the north bound lane (east lane) of the bridge will be closed for the entirety of the work. Traffic will be rerouted to Belsyde Avenue, Highway 6 and Garafraxa Street East.

The south bound lane over the bridge will remain open throughout construction.
