ABERFOYLE – For the second year in a row, the traditional Puslinch Santa Claus Parade will be replaced with “Santa’s Drive-Thru in Puslinch” due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It will take place at the Puslinch Community Centre in Aberfoyle on Nov. 28 starting at 2pm.
Organizers say residents are invited to drive along the route any time from 2 to 3:30pm to see “many floats and friendly and funny mascots, clowns and elves, as you listen to the live bands Christmas music, from the comfort of your vehicle while you travel along the drive-thru route.
“All of this in anticipation of seeing the ‘jolly old guy’ himself, Santa, dressed in red, in his sleigh with his reindeer.”
Each child with be provided with a goody bag and children are encouraged to bring their letters to Santa. All letters with a return address will receive a reply, officials say.
“There is no cost, but we do encourage you to bring a donation to the food bank which can be collected at the end of the route,” states an Oct. 7 press release.
Event organizers are offering the following guidelines to families, clubs, organizations or businesses interested in entering a float:
- the theme this year is a “Holly, Jolly Christmas”;
- entries should clearly display whose float it is;
- people will be allowed on the float this year, either as part of the theme or just to wave;
- advance confirmation is required; and
- parade participants will be assigned a staggered time slot for arrival of floats.
“The Optimist Club of Puslinch welcomes your participation and hopes you will enjoy your drive-thru experience and chance to see Santa, in this new format,” states the press release.
“It’s all about the kids and bringing joy!”
