On March 22 and 25 filming is taking place in Centre Wellington. There will be lights, cameras and magic as four world renowned magicians and variety artists arrive at the Fergus Grand Theatre for a live-audience filming.
“We need a live, enthusiastic audience for two different tapings,” said Ryan Joyce the show’s producer.
“We’re trying to make Fergus and Elora the center point of magic in Canada and around the world.
“Our first two filmings feature some incredible acts coming right here in our backyard.”
Joyce is a Fergus resident who travels the globe performing his own magic.
“Magic is the only job I’ve ever had and that’s all because of Fergus,” Joyce said. “We have some very magical roots here.
“My first stage was the Fergus Grand Theatre. There are a lot of emotions, this could be huge for our community.”
Joyce and his team are now entering production phase and they are asking people interested in the community to visit fergusfilming.ca to get filming notices and updates.
“We are packaging two edited shows for distribution,” he said. “Live at the Grand is a showcase of the world’s greatest variety entertainers … How do they all end up here, in the most magical town in the world.”
Performers on March 22 at 8pm are ventriloquist Michael Paul and magic master Michael Close.
The March 25 show at 7pm will feature the mentalist duo The Evasions and comedy of magic performer Matt Disero. The show is hosted by Mike Bullard.
“The show is free but we want you to come eat locally,” Joyce said. “Pesto! Your dinner ticket becomes your show ticket.”
The shows are considered PG-13 Joyce said.
“One hundred percent of donations stay locally you can even donate online when you register your tickets,” he said. “We’ve already raised over $300 in online donations, we’re filling restaurants. …
“We still have a long way to go, register at fergusfilming.ca and spread the word.”
