It will be a lot easier to learn the score for people walking into pad A at the Fergus Sportsplex now that a new scoreboard is in place.
The old scoreboard was one that used individual bulbs and when some of them burned out, it was virtually impossible to tell if the score was 2-2 or 5-3.
That all changed when Rowe Electric donated a new scoreboard to the community.
The company was hired to put new lights in for the ice pad when the township received a grant for a Recreation Infrastructure Canada grant for the $2.4-million project. The township paid one third of that, and the province and federal government shared the rest of the cost.
Bill and Dave Rowe discussed the issue and decided to donate the scoreboard.
Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj said of the donation “It was a place where they could make a wonderful contribution to the community. With the quality of sport in this community, it’s jut right to show off our scores.”
Bill Rowe said the scoreboard cost just over $7,500 and his company is pleased to be able to provide it to the community.
