Rockwood woman charged with sexual assault

Police say incident last year involved a Portage Elora employee and 'young person'

CENTRE WELLINGTON – A Rockwood woman is facing sexual assault charges in relation to an incident last year at a youth addiction rehabilitation facility.

Wellington County OPP officials say officers began the investigation on May 2, 2024.

The incident involved “a sexual offence that occurred between an employee and a young person” at Portage Elora on Irvine Street, police stated in an April 9 press release.

Jennifer Dean, 24, of Rockwood, was charged with sexual interference, sexual exploitation and sexual assault.

She is to appear in Guelph court on May 13.

Portage Elora closed its doors earlier this year due to financial shortfalls, notably provincial funding cuts.
