Rockwood teen on Canada’s U18 rugby team

ROCKWOOD – It has been a whirlwind year on the rugby pitch for Rockwood’s Adam Ford.

The Grade 12 honours student at John F. Ross CVI was part of a Royals senior boys rugby team that lost a heartbreaking District 10 final in the final drive of the game against Guelph CVI last May.

Ford spent the late spring and summer playing for Guelph Redcoats RFC while trying out and making the Ontario Blues U17 AA team, competing in summer tournaments at the University of Guelph and Acadia University in Nova Scotia.

His efforts with the Ontario Blues earned Ford an invitation to a Canada U18 Selection Camp held on Thanksgiving at the Royal Military College (RMC) in Kingston.

Last month, Canada’s Men’s Under-18 Team head coach Mike Curran named two rosters totalling 60 players to join a holiday tour in California later this month.

Ford, is one of 17 Ontario rugby players chosen as part of the San Diego-bound Canadian contingent.
